The Red Hen House Retreat Center History

Join us for a fun and relaxing stay with your friends and/or family. This is a unique facility, once know as Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The structure was built in 1891, founded by the Norwegian residents of Brooten, MN. Sunday services continued there until the fall of 1998, when the congregation had become so small that it could no longer sustain itself. The church then closed. The property then served as a photography studio.

Today, after a huge facelift, the property has become The Red Hen House Retreat Center. It has been designed for quilting, scrap booking, knitting, stamping, crafting, spiritual events and gatherings of all kinds.

The Red Hen House is a retreat lodging facility furnished with eight twin beds, two full baths and a fully-equipped kitchen. We provide bed linens and towels/wash cloths. There is ample room in our work area to work on your projects and enjoy the company of your fellow retreaters.

You may reserve The Red Hen House for your private group of up to 8. We also offer Hosted Retreats during the year. Bring a friend or come on your own. Meet new people who have a passion like yours. Share ideas and learn from one another. You won’t be sorry.
